1975 Black Fender Jazz Bass

1975 Black Fender Jazz Bass1975 Black Fender Jazz Bass

Sweet!

This 1975 Fender Jazz Bass with its original Fender Case in A++ condition is a dream to play. Its always desirable and thought to be rare or fewer produced in the color of black. Weighing in at 10 pounds, which is remarkable for this era of Fender Bass.

Due to a previous owner (obviously an in experienced juvenile) having loosened the “bullet” truss rod nut beyond the end of the threaded portion of the truss rod, thus making the “bullet” nut thread back onto the rod impossible.  The truss rod “bullet” nut had to be reseated on the truss rod.  For this process the first fret marker was removed to perform the reseating of the “bullet” nut by an experienced Luthier.  Now it plays beautifully with a very low action. No harm was done to the finish of the neck or headstock.

It appears to have been lightly “played” and with the usual finish swirls and only a very few aging points.   The first fret marker. Crazing of the finish on the back of the body and a spot on the back of the neck near the treble side as the neck tapers to the headstock.

This bass even being 41 years old has seen very little use, as evidenced by its pristine original Fender case. I know this bass will be a joy to play and own in the right new home, or in the hands of a collector desiring a piece to complement their collection.

National Val-Pro 84

National Val-Pro 84

This National Val-Pro 84 in White Resoglas is a beauty frozen in time (we were told 1962), with it’s Original Hard Shell Case. This guitar has the neck pickup and a hidden pickup in the bridge.

Most musicians are first attracted to them, no doubt, by the way they look. The body shape resembles a map of the United States. The National Val-Pro 84 was introduced in 1961 (they first made a catalog appearance in ’62) and were made only through 1964.

The guitar’s finish was sprayed first into a mold, which was then sprayed with Fiberglas before the finished half was unmolded. The two pieces (front and back) were screwed together with five screws entering from the back and going into blocks of maple glued to the inside of the body. Valco called the material Res-O-Glas–a combination of polyester resin and glass threads.

In 1962, the Val-Pro style came in three models–the Val-Pro 82, 84, and 88, along with the Val-Pro 85 bass–that were identical in hardware and ornamentation, but differed in the pickups and controls offered. The 84 (pictured here) had one single-coil pickup in the neck position, plus a transducer-type pickup built into the base of the bridge.

Kay 1982s Style Leader

You are looking at a Kay 1982s Style Leader from 1963, this single cutaway model in a beautiful Sunburst, with two copper colored anodized aluminum pickguard strips. This guitar was known as the Style Leader in several versions in regard to the pickup count, this model has 2 pickups, a pickup selector and what appears to be volume and tone controls for each pickup. This guitar is timeless in the blues man’s life. Comes with a chip board case, this is possibly the original case to the guitar, however I cannot confirm this.

Gibson Custom Shop ES 339

Gibson Custom Shop ES 339 semi hollow body guitar. This one owner guitar was purchased new at Guitar Center in Memphis, Tennessee, about three years ago. It has been kept in the owner’s smoke free home and gigged less than 10 times, all in smoke free environments. The pictures tell the tale. This guitar has been meticulously cared for by the owner there may be signs of play wear, but no chips, gouges or gig scars, this though a GREAT USED GUITAR– an ES 335 design in a Les Paul size. Weighs less than 8 pounds, so it’s easy on the back and neck when gigged. Wonderful Gibson sound that can’t be duplicated. However, it has the 30/60 neck and vintage sunburst finish.
